Ingredients
- Cooking Spray
- 5 Egg Whites
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 tbsp ground walnuts
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 8 large fresh strawberries sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 275°F.
- Cover baking sheet with parchment paper and coat parchment paper with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, with electric mixer on high speed, beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form.
- Gradually sprinkle in cream of tartar and then powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add vanilla extract and beat until shiny peaks form. Fold in walnuts.
- With a rubber spatula, form mixture into a 7" circle on the parchment paper.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until golden in color.
- Turn off oven and let meringue cool with oven door open.
- Remove from parchment to serving platter or store in airtight container.
- Serve with whipped cream and strawberries
