Ingredients
  • 1cup dry green split peas
  • 6cups Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1cup sliced carrots
  • 1cup Chopped Onion
  • 1cup chopped celery
  • 1/4cup dry hulled barley
  • 2tsp Crushed Garlic
  • 1tsp ground thyme
  • 3/4tsp dried marjoram
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
  1. Pour dry peas onto a rimmed cookie tray, and sort through with your fingers to remove any small stones.
  2. In wire strainer, rinse peas under cool water.
  3. Place peas and all remaining ingredients in stockpot. Bring to boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 1 hour until the barley is tender
