Ingredients
- 1 cup dry green split peas
- 6 cups Low Sodium Chicken Broth
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup Chopped Onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup dry hulled barley
- 2 tsp Crushed Garlic
- 1 tsp ground thyme
- 3/4 tsp dried marjoram
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- Pour dry peas onto a rimmed cookie tray, and sort through with your fingers to remove any small stones.
- In wire strainer, rinse peas under cool water.
- Place peas and all remaining ingredients in stockpot. Bring to boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 1 hour until the barley is tender
