Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry green split peas
  • 6 cups Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup dry hulled barley
  • 2 tsp Crushed Garlic
  • 1 tsp ground thyme
  • 3/4 tsp dried marjoram
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Pour dry peas onto a rimmed cookie tray, and sort through with your fingers to remove any small stones.
  2. In wire strainer, rinse peas under cool water.
  3. Place peas and all remaining ingredients in stockpot. Bring to boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 1 hour until the barley is tender
