I have Type 2 diabetes. Currently taking metformin (1000 mg twice daily). Also, taking lisonopril (10 mg per day) and Simvastatin (40 mg per day), as well as alluporinol (300 mg per day) and omeprazole (20 mg twice daily). I have lost 30 lbs since November. I am 67, weigh 180 and am 5’9.” Lately, I get lightheaded after I eat anything, at any time of day. Why? Thanks in advance, Danny Singleton, Concord, NC.

Unfortunately, it probably isn't possible to determine why you feel lightheaded after eating without being examined by your doctor and running some tests. Metformin generally doesn't lead to lightheadedness. However, the sensation of being lightheaded or dizzy is a fairly common side effect of certain blood pressure medications, including lisinopril. It's possible that you need less blood pressure medication as a result of losing 30 pounds. I encourage you to speak with your doctor about the lightheadedness you've been experiencing after eating.
