Frequent UTI’s that require hospital care and IV antibiotics. Any suggestions as to what food or drinks to add to diet? I already eat yogurt and drink lots of water.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had frequent UTI's requiring hospitalization and antibiotics. In addition to staying well hydrated, avoiding sodas and sugary foods, and getting plenty of protein and vegetables at meals, the following beverages and foods may be beneficial:

  • Plain Greek yogurt, plain yogurt, or unsweetened kefir, which nourish gut bacteria

  • Foods high in polyphenols that can prevent bacterial growth in the urine, such as:

    • blackberries

    • coffee

    • black tea

    • unsweetened cocoa or dark chocolate with a minimum of 85% cacao
