Spicy Vegan Tofu

Vegetarian Jamaican food—tofu baked in sweet and spicy jerk sauce.

  • 12 oz cubed super firm Tofu
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 whole jalapeno peppers
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger root
  • 2 medium garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp ground thyme
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Drain tofu. Place in 13" x 9" baking dish.
  3. Peel onion and chop into large pieces. Peel garlic.
  4. In food processor, purée onions, jalapeno peppers, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, thyme, cloves, cinnamon, and pepper.
  5. Add jerk sauce to tofu and gently toss.
  6. Bake 30 minutes, toss tofu after 15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve.
