What diet is best for losing weight? What’s the best time to take insulin?

Thank you for your question. Studies suggest that there is no "best" way to lose weight for everyone; choosing a way of eating that you can stick to long term—in maintenance as well as while you're losing weight—is key. Having said this, for people with diabetes, a low-carb diet is likely the best way to go. It can help suppress appetite, keep you full and satisfied after meals, and promote better blood sugar levels.

As far as the best time to take insulin, this depends on the type of insulin you take. Basal insulin helps control blood sugar when you are not eating and is typically taken once a day in the morning or at night because it works for about 20-24 hours. It's important to try to take this at the same time every day in order to prevent having too much or too little insulin in your system. Mealtime (bolus) insulin helps keep your blood sugar from rising too much after meals. Depending on the type you take, it should be taken either immediately before a meal or up to 30 minutes before a meal. It's important to read the directions on your prescription bottle to determine the most effective and safest time to take the specific type of insulin you use.
