You have a great question, and coffee with half and half twice a day may very well fit in to your overall diet. A two-tablespoon serving of half and half provides 1 gram of carbohydrate and 40 calories, so it's a good choice for use in coffee and tea. Heavy cream is even lower in carbs and provides about 50 calories per tablespoon.
On the other hand, non-dairy creamers should be avoided because they contain unhealthy trans fats, also known as partially hydrogenated oils. Many of these creamers contain high fructose corn syrup as well. This is true for both the flavored and “original” varieties. It's best to stick with half and half in your coffee.
