Q: I have to go off my insulin pump because of the high cost of supplies. I am quite nervous to go back to Multiple Daily Injections. How do you calculate insulin on board? Does Lantus count as IOB?
Going back to multiple daily injections, (MDI) after using a pump can seem daunting. Fortunately there are a few phone apps that allow you to easily calculate insulin on board (which Lantus does contribute to), keep track of insulin administration, and simplify diabetes management if you use MDI.
