Barack Obama’s Stance On Diabetes-Related Issues:
Health Care Plan:
• Price: Affordable premiums, co-pays and deductibles
• Availability: Guaranteed eligibility. No American will be turned away from any insurance plan because of illness or pre-existing conditions.
• Dependability: Quality and efficiency. Participating insurance companies in the new public program will be required to report data to ensure that standards for quality, health information technology and administration are being met.1
Stem Cell Research:
Obama supports relaxing federal restrictions on embryonic stem cell research. He voted for the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, which was vetoed by President Bush. The bill would have allowed federal funding to be used for research on stem cell lines obtained from discarded human embryos originally created for fertility treatments.2
Voting Record:
• Voted YES on increasing Medicaid rebate for producing generics. (Nov. 2005)
• Voted YES on negotiating bulk purchases for Medicare prescription drug. (March 2005)3
Barack Talks About Health Care:
“We now face an opportunity — and an obligation — to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates… My plan begins by covering every American."4

Comments
Obama appears to have plans for the good of the people. The problem is: He has not tried out the advisability of his plan and he does not have the national and global experience behind him. I will not vote for Obama on that basis.
