Type 1 Diabetes: Oral Medication

Most people with type 1 diabetes do not take oral antidiabetic medications, and the FDA has not approved any currently available diabetes medications for use in type 1 diabetes. However, some clinical studies have indicated that the type 2 diabetes drug metformin may be an effective adjunct, or complementary, therapy in some patients with type 1 diabetes who have also developed insulin resistance.
