October 11th 2008 - Minneapolis Diabetes EXPO will take place at the Minneapolis Convention Center from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

October 15-18th 2008 - 2008 Cardiometabolic Health Congress. This event will feature medical experts presenting practical medical, lifestyle and surgical approaches to manage the problems assicaited with obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

October 18th 2008 - Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes' is a 3.1 mile walk that will start and end at Micron Technology (9600 Godwin Dr., Manassas, VA 20110) and will wind through the Prince William Campus of George Mason University. Registration begins at 9:00 am and the walk begins at 10:30 am. You can register by going to www.diabetes.org/stepout or calling 1-888--DIABETES.

October 20th 2008 – Skate for a Cure at Family at the Ice Center, Falmouth Maine. For a second year Team NYA made up of parents, coaches, and students (including some now skating for Bowdoin) will match up against a local Men’s All Star team, featuring former Hockey All Americans. Each of the players is making a contribution or has been sponsored to play. Donations will be accepted at the door. Come support the athletes and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation! And come early to skate during the Public Skating session! Game time: 7:10 p.m.

October 23rd 2008 - Support Group for Dealing with Diabetes invites the public to their monthly meeting in Oneonta, NY. Guest speakers will be at every meeting. Discussions start at 7 PM and wraps up around 8:30 PM. Group meets at the Elm Park Methodist Church located at 401 Chestnut Street Oneonta, NY 13820. October 24th - 26th 2008 - Holistic World presents The Healthy Kids Expo at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place Toronto, ON Hall "C" and "D". Celebrity guest include Dr. Mehmet Oz Host of "Second Opinion with Dr. Oz" and a regular contributor on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will be speaking about: YOU: Raising Healthy Kids. Also CBC's Wendy Mesley and MP Olivia Chow! This three day event will be filled with fun, education and entertainment with an impressive cast of health conscious celebrities, educators, politicians, practitioners and exhibitors that will share their wisdom about important health and environmental issues. October 25th 2008 - Diabetes Day of Hope: If you have diabetes, pre-diabetes or if you have diabetes in your family, you don’t want to miss this program. This program is based on the philosophy that every person with diabetes and prediabetes is entitled to normal blood sugars as a person without diabetes. Location is Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. October 26th 2008 - Walk For a Cure! Philadelphia Art Museum Steps Fairmount Park, 26th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia, PA. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Walk To Cure Diabetes is one of the fastest growing fundraising events in the world. Each year, over 500,000 people "walk for a cure" at 200 JDRF Walk locations in over a dozen countries. Funds are raised by individual and team walkers obtaining donations from family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Monies are also raised through corporate sponsorship and the sale of JDRF paper sneakers at retail outlets. Last year, over $85 million was raised worldwide for diabetes research and research education through JDRF's Walk program.
