April 1st 2008 - 4th Annual "A Spoonful of Ginger” food tasting to benefit Joslin Diabetes Center’s Asian American Diabetes Initiative (AADI). Event takes place at State Room, 60 State Street, Boston, MA from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. April 2nd 2008 – Join the Diabetes Support Group of South Florida for discussions on “insulin devices and pumps” and “adapting to the retirement years”. Support group meets at the Diabetes Center of North Broward Medical Center located at 201 E. Sample Rd., Pompano Beach. Meeting commences at 2pm. April 4, 5, 6th 2008 - The Verizon Wireless Swim for Diabetes, now in its 23rd year, is the major fundraiser for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland. Participants collect pledges per length OR flat donations to support their participation in the event, which is taking place April 4, 5, 6, 2008 at a variety of pool locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Pool locations will be posted on this website in December.
April 8th 2008 – “Diabetics helping Diabetics” support group welcomes speaker Laura del Valle MS, RD, LD, CDE. Group meeting begins at 10:30 AM and will be held at the Wellington Community Centers, 12165 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington. Friedman Diabetes Institute's Social Worker, Nataie Marrow, discusses the emotional side of diabetes. Carole Yass, RD, CDE answers your questions. The Divabetic Coaching Sessions provide upbeat motivational support for women affected by diabetes and their guest. Children with diabetes and their families are invited to make new friends, learn about the ADA, meet the counselors of Camp Glyndon at Lions Camp Merrick, and enjoy a beautiful day in the park! April 19th 2008 - Seattle Diabetes EXPO. Everything you need to know about diabetes in one place with more than 75 exhibits featuring the latest products and services and much more. The expo will be held at Qwest Event Center, Main Hall (located between Qwest and Safeco Fields) from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is free and there will be free shuttle buses to the expo.
April 21st 2008 - 2008 Penn State Institute of Diabetes and Obesity (PSIDO) Diabetes Research Retreat. The retreat will be at the Hotel Hershey, Hershey PA. All researchers with an interest or potential interest in diabetes are encouraged to attend. The goal of the retreat is to bring together scientist and physicians interested in diabetes into collaborative research groups and set the direction for future research and educational efforts.
April 25-27th 2008 - Pump Wear
Caring and Sharing Weekend, first of its kind a free weekend for 15
lucky families to connect and just have fun. Held at the Double H Ranch
in Lake Luzerne A Paul Newman Hole in the Wall camp.
April 26th 2008 - Phoenix Diabetes EXPO. Join the American Diabetes Association For the 12 the Annual Diabetes Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. The Phoenix Convention Center is located 33 South Third Street Exhibit Halls D & E Phoenix, AZ.
April 28th 2008 - Chicago Diabetes EXPO held at the Navy Pier, Festival Hall B Chicago, IL and will be from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Diabetes EXPO is everything you want to know about diabetes; it's management and prevention under one roof! Chicago Diabetes EXPO is FREE to all attendees! The ADA is proud to provide this free event to the public. Donations will be accepted.
