Theresa Garnero, APRN, BC-ADM, MSN, CDE: Theresa is an accomplished nurse, diabetes educator, and author. She was honored with two prestigious American Association of Diabetes Educator Awards: the 2004-2005 National Diabetes Educator of the Year and the Allene Van Son Award. She is author and illustrator of DIABETease, a collection of cartoons to promote diabetes self-management. Each month Theresa answers your diabetes questions and offers her own brand of diabetes humor.
Nicole Johnson: Nicole Johnson is the anchor for dLifeTV and former Miss America 1999, all while having type 1 diabetes. Having received a Master's degree in Journalism, Nicole is working on another Master's in Public Health. Nicole is the author of several books including her own autobiography, Living With Diabetes (Regnery Publishing, Inc., 2001). She has also co-authored two cookbooks. Nicole's commitment to diabetes education and advocacy has garnered her the title of honorary CDE in the diabetes commmunity. She writes about a variety of education topics.
Emotional & Behavioral Issues
Richard Rubin, PhD, CDE: Dr. Rubin is the current President of The American Diabetes Association and an Associate Professor in Medicine and in Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Btitleimore, MD. An active member of the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Dr. Rubin has written over 100 articles, books, and book chapters for people with diabetes and for diabetes hetitleh care providers. He writes about emotional and behavioral issues related to diabetes for dLife.

Joe Solowiejczyk, CDE, RN, MSW: is President of InBalance Healthcare, a counseling and education service for health care professionals and adults and children with diabetes. A diabetes nurse educator and family therapist who has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 40 years, Joe has been able to translate his personal experience into patient care. He writes about family dynamics and diabetes management for dLife.
Exercise & Sports
Gary Hall Jr.: Ten-time Olympic medalist and American record holder, Gary Hall doesn’t let his type 1 diabetes stop him from going for gold—and getting it. Each month, Gary will take time out of his hectic schedule to share his unique view of living with diabetes.
Sheri Colberg-Ochs, PhD, FACSM: Dr. Colberg-Ochs, Associate Professor of Exercise Physiology at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, will give her medical views on exercise and athletics, covering important topics such as what makes your blood sugar go up or down.

Food & Nutrition
Lara Rondinelli, RD, LDN, CDE is the co-author of The Healthy Carb Diabetes Cookbook (American Diabetes Association, 2008) and Healthy Calendar Diabetic Cooking (American Diabetes Association, 2004). She has lectured nationwide on healthy eating, cooking, and meal planning. Lara is an active member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Dietetic Association, and the University of Chicago Celiac Center Advisory Board. Lara writes on food and diet, and dishes up healthy
recipes for the dLife community in her monthly column, “Everyday Eating.”
Joy Pape, RN, BSN, CDE, WOCN, CFCN: Joy is the president of EnJoy Life! Health Consulting in New York City, and a diabetes nurse educator and Certified Foot Care Nurse with over twenty-five years of experience. Joy was recently appointed as The New York State Legislative Coordinator for The American Association For Diabetes Educators (AADE). She is also currently working on her book, The W Factor. Each month she answers your questions about diabetic foot care.
Janis Roszler, RD, CDE, LD/N: Janis is a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator, insulin pump trainer, author, and radio host. She is the co-author of The Secrets of Living and Loving with Diabetes, a book that helps individuals keep diabetes from interfering with their personal relationships. Her radio show “Janis’ Jump Start to Good Health,” can be heard every Sunday on 1470 AM in South Florida and at www.dearjanis.com. Each month, Janis will bring the dLife community tips and information on sex, intimacy, and relationships as they relate to diabetes.

Kelly L. Close is a medical writer with type 1 diabetes. She works at a small consulting firm called Close Concerns, Inc. The Close Concerns team attends over 30 scientific and industry-focused diabetes conferences in the US and abroad every year. Her newsletter, Diabetes Close Up, focuses in part on research presented at such meetings. Kelly writes about diabetes research issues for dLife.
David Kliff spent much of his career as an independent money manager for high net worth individuals before being diagnosed with diabetes in 1994 at the age of 36. It was this life-changing experience that led to the creation of Diabetic Investor, the leading source of research information on the diabetes sector. David has become a much sought after expert in his field and has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Money magazine, and Forbes. Now he brings his finance and investment expertise in the diabetes marketplace to the dLife community.
A. Paul Chous, M.A., O.D.:Dr. Paul Chous, a native of Southern California, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes mellitus at the age of five. In 1986, the year he received his Master’s Degree, Dr. Chous developed proliferative diabetic retinopathy and underwent multiple laser treatments to save his vision. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry in 1991 with highest honors from UC Berkeley. Dr. Chous has practiced optometry with a special emphasis on diabetic eye disease and diabetes education for 14 years in the State of Washington. He is the author of Diabetic Eye Disease: Lessons From a Diabetic Eye Doctor (Fairwood Press, 2003. See reviews at www.diabeticeyes.com). Dr. Chous will be writing about diabetic eye disease and vision issues for the dLife community.
